Contactless Debit is a faster, safer way to pay

Our Platinum and Platinum Rewards credit cards are better than ever. We’re now offering a 0% APR* introductory rate for the first 12 months!

As always, there’s no annual fee. The balance transfer fee is only 2% or $10, whichever is greater, while many banks currently charge 3%. And remember, your Platinum Rewards card allows you to redeem points for a round-trip airline ticket to any destination, on any airline, at any time with no black-out periods.

*Annual percentage rate. 0% APR valid on new cards only on all transactions for the first twelve months. The introductory rate is not valid on existing Dominion balances. After the introductory period, the rate will return to the variable rate for which you qualify based on credit qualifications.

Free Checking Account

If you haven’t already, download the Dominion Credit Union app from your smartphone’s app store. Log on to Online Banking (not the app) and agree to the Mobile Banking terms and conditions. Next, agree to the Mobile Deposit terms and conditions. Then just tap, snap, and deposit!

New Way to Pay

You can now use your mobile device as a method of payment at participating merchants. Google Wallet’s Tap and Pay is available in the U.S. for Dominion Credit Union debit and credit cards. Your phone or mobile device must be an NFC-enabled Android device running 4.4 (KitKat) or higher on any carrier network. (Not all devices running KitKat will support Tap and Pay.)

Tap and Pay uses your Dominion Credit Union credit or debit card information to pay for purchases quickly and securely with your phone. Just hold your phone to a contactless reader and select the card you want to use.

Are mobile payments safe? Yes! Google Wallet uses tokenization, which masks card information as it is transmitted. That means the information is well-guarded against hackers, even if they manage to find other information about your card.

Our VISA® credit cards will now feature secure EMV chips, the security standard in Europe and now the U.S. They provide users with enhanced fraud protection by generating a unique transaction code each time it is swiped. If you are issued a new card, here’s what you need to know.

What is EMV? EMV stands for “EuroPay, MasterCard, VISA, “ but it now represents the microchip technology in your card that increases its security. The dynamic data it creates each time the card is swiped cannot be known by anyone else, even if they have stolen your card or card number.

How do I use an EMV card? Swipe your card at the register. If the merchant is not EMV-ready, just continue the transaction as you normally would. If the merchant is EMV-ready, you’ll see a message telling you to insert your card into the bottom of the terminal. Leave your card in the terminal until the entire transaction is completed.

Remember:

  • You may need your PIN to authenticate the transaction.
  • As with any new card, update the expiration date on any automatic bill payment services you have set up.

Traveling to Europe after June 2015? Call us to have your credit card replaced with an EMV card.
