1. Know what’s coming in and what’s going out. Tracking your spending daily can help you see where you’re spending most of your money. This can help you eliminate unnecessary spending habits.

2. Create a budget that works for you. You know when you get paid and when your bills are due. Creating a budget that works with your cashflow can help you organize your finances and plan your spending.

3. Have a rainy day savings. Life can throw you curve balls, so it’s important to always have savings for surprise expenses.

4. Set up automatic deposits. One of the easiest ways to save is if you don’t have to lift a finger! Set up a portion of your paycheck to automatically go to savings, or set up regular transfers from checking.

5. Pay down your debt. Having too much debt or high-interest debt hanging over your head can really impact your financial well-being. Learn how much you owe and make a plan to pay down debt.

6. Look ahead. You have goals that you want to reach at some point in your life. Plan for them! Just be smart and take financially manageable steps.

Board Nominations

The nominating committee is now accepting nominations for the Credit Union Board of Directors. Nominations may be made either upon recommendation of the Nominating Committee or by petition, as follows. Interested candidates should send the following information to the Credit Union Board Secretary, P.O. Box 26646, Richmond, VA 23261, by February 15:

  • A brief statement of qualifications and biographical data from the nominee(s).
  • A signed statement from the nominee(s) stating they agree to the nomination and will serve if elected.
  • A petition supporting the nomination signed by at least 350 Credit Union members.
